The commanders of the resistance in Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen possess a spiritual resolve

History bears witness that all great conquerors of Islam – from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to Omar al-Mukhtar and Abd al-Qadir al-Jaza’iri – were bearers of both spiritual wisdom and moral virtue. Today, the resistance commanders in Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen continue this legacy, standing on the frontlines with mystical devotion and spiritual fortitude.

Sheikh Abdullah Jabri, Director of the Islamic Call Assembly of Lebanon, delivered at the virtual pre-conference session of the International Conference on the Theology of Resistance, titled “The Divine Discourse of Jihad and Martyrdom”, held at the Jabal al-Sabr Specialized Religious Center.

In Verse 60 of Surah Al-Anfal in the Holy Quran, Allah commands the believers to prepare, with all their intellectual and military strength, to confront the enemies of God’s religion. A fighter who battles for Allah and the establishment of justice—even if seemingly defeated—is victorious in the eyes of God, for he has fulfilled his duty and is thus entitled to the divine promise of paradise in exchange for his life and wealth.

Spiritual readiness is the believer’s most powerful weapon. A fighter who enters the battlefield with insight and sincerity is far more effective and enduring than mercenaries driven by material motives.

When the enemies of Islam—particularly Wahhabi factions—sought to diminish the importance of jihad, they targeted religious scholars, Sufism, and Islamic mysticism. They even opposed visiting the shrine of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his family, knowing that these spiritual bonds are the source of believers’ purity, piety, and steadfastness against oppression.

History bears witness that all great Islamic conquerors—from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to Omar al-Mukhtar and Abd al-Qadir al-Jaza’iri—were bearers of both weapons and spiritual wisdom. Today, the commanders of resistance in Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen stand on the frontlines with the same mystical devotion. The loss of leaders like Haj Ismail Haniyeh has not weakened the resistance; rather, spiritual unity and inner preparedness have ensured its continuity.

The world now sees that the Axis of Resistance in Palestine and Lebanon has reached military, electronic, and industrial parity with the Zionist enemy. The difference between the capabilities of the resistance in the 2006 war versus the 2023-2024 wars demonstrates its remarkable military advancement.

Our enemy is not just Israel—it is backed by global powers like the U.S., Britain, and France. Yet, we declare that we are growing stronger. Unlike the enemy, which relies only on material weapons, we are armed with faith, spirit, and spirituality.

To confront the enemy, we must immunize our societies through religious, ethnic, and national unity. The enemy sees us as one Ummah, and we must strengthen our unity by holding fast to the divine rope.

In Islam, Shi’a alone cannot liberate Palestine—they need Sunni cooperation. Likewise, Sunnis cannot reclaim Al-Quds without Shi’a support. Today, the only nation sincerely supporting the Palestinian cause is the Islamic Republic of Iran, and this support must become a model for the entire Islamic Ummah.
