Final Statement of the Unity-Creating Conference of Shia and Sunni Scholars of the Eastern Country

The Unity-Creating Conference of Shia and Sunni Scholars of the Eastern Country concluded its proceedings by issuing a final statement.

The text of the statement is as follows:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم

یا أَیُّهَا الَّذِینَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ، وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِیعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا

In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
“O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him].” (Quran 3:102)

Praise and greetings be upon the Great Prophet, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (peace be upon him and his progeny), who was truly the Messenger of Mercy and the herald of unity. Distinguished attendees, revered seminary teachers, honorable Friday and congregational prayer Imams of Shia and Sunni, esteemed guests;

We have gathered in the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal, during the days of the 1500th anniversary of the blessed birth of the Seal of the Prophets, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (PBUH), the blessed Unity Week, and on the eve of the Sacred Defense Week, to renew our divine covenant for unity, solidarity, steadfastness, and resistance. The Holy Quran taught us that “unity is the strong rope of Allah” and division is the abyss of downfall.

Today, more than ever, the Islamic world needs to cling to this rope to remain safe from the storm-provoking seditions of its enemies.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) unified the hearts of the people and established a society based on brotherhood and justice. He showed us that in a single Ummah (nation), there is no difference between Shia and Sunni, and all are brothers and equals under the banner of “La ilaha illallah” (There is no god but Allah).

This is the very “sacred unity” that the Supreme Leader, with his unparalleled insight, has emphasized; a unity that guarantees the dignity and power of beloved Iran and the Islamic world.

Today, the usurping Zionist regime, with the support of global arrogance, particularly the United States, and by exploiting the negligence and division within the Islamic world, is brutally massacring the oppressed people of Gaza in the most savage manner. These crimes are not only against a nation but against the conscience of humanity. Unfortunately, in these critical times, we witness some Arab countries normalizing relations with this bloodthirsty regime, fueling division and weakening the Resistance Front instead of uniting with their brothers. This blatant betrayal not only fails to help them but also sacrifices their honor before the Islamic Ummah.

The great and insightful nation of Iran, over many years, particularly during the 12-day imposed war [likely referring to a specific conflict or a symbolic duration], stood with unity and solidarity against global powers and emerged victorious. This epic taught us that whenever the nation, under the umbrella of unity, supports its armed forces, no power can confront it.

At the conclusion of this blessed gathering held in the city of Sarakhs—a symbol of unity and brotherhood—we, the participants, representing all teachers, scholars, and clergy, Shia and Sunni, of the eastern region of the country, declare the following points as the summary of this great meeting:

1.We consider unity among the Islamic Ummah a Quranic principle and a vital strategy against the conspiracies of enemies. We oppose any sowing of discord and creation of division among Islamic sects and consider it a pre-designed project by global arrogance.

2.We declare our firm support for the cause of Palestine and the oppressed people of Gaza and strongly condemn the crimes of the Zionist regime. We also consider any normalization of relations with this regime a betrayal of the aspirations of the Islamic Ummah and a blow to the body of Muslim unity.

3.In complete adherence to the guidance of the Supreme Leader (may his shadow endure), who is the standard-bearer of unity in the Islamic world, we emphasize: this adherence is our guiding light on the path to dignity and power, and any deviation from it will benefit the enemies.

4.We emphasize our comprehensive support for the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the defenders of this homeland’s security. These brave forces, under the shadow of the nation’s unity and support, are the guardians of the security and power of Islamic Iran and are a symbol of the struggle against Takfiri and Zionist terrorism.

May we, by the grace of God and under the shadow of unity, witness the ultimate victory of the front of truth over falsehood and the establishment of peace and justice in the world.

And peace be upon you and the mercy of God and His blessings.
