Experts told CNN that by sending Rubio, Trump aims to highlight America’s unconditional support for Israel against what they call “double standards,” while the Islamic consensus emphasizes the necessity of ending the occupation and supporting the rights of Palestinians.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met yesterday with Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, in occupied Jerusalem to strengthen the strategic ties between the two countries amid growing regional pressures.
According to Al Jazeera, the meeting took place at the Western Wall and focused on Washington’s unwavering support for Tel Aviv in the face of the increasing consensus among Islamic countries, which have condemned Israel’s recent attack on Qatar as a violation of sovereignty.
During the meeting, Rubio emphasized that international efforts to recognize a Palestinian state would strengthen Hamas and make ending the conflict in Gaza more difficult. This stance is a response to statements from the Doha emergency summit, attended by over 50 countries, which described the attack on Qatar as a threat to regional stability.
Experts told CNN that by sending Rubio, Trump aims to highlight America’s unconditional support for Israel against what they call “double standards,” while the Islamic consensus emphasizes the necessity of ending the occupation and supporting the rights of Palestinians.
The second message of Rubio’s trip to the occupied territories is America’s readiness to ease tensions between Israel and its regional allies. After visiting the occupied territories, Rubio traveled to Qatar and met with officials there. According to Fox News, Rubio and Netanyahu discussed the consequences of the attack on Qatar, which has undermined mediation diplomacy.
Trump, who has expressed displeasure with this operation, apparently wants to show that the conflict with Hamas could have been resolved through diplomatic channels, such as Qatari negotiations, rather than military actions that escalate tensions. According to Al Jazeera, Rubio simultaneously emphasized Qatar’s constructive role in resolving the Gaza crisis and announced his upcoming trip to Doha to reduce divisions.
This trip, while Israeli bombardments in Gaza continue, demonstrates Trump’s strategy of flaunting his support for Israel and ultimately sends only one message: “Supporting Israel is the priority, but diplomacy seems necessary to prevent regional isolation.”
