Mashhad Friday Prayer Leader: America is the enemy of Iran’s independence and dignity

Ayatollah Alam al-Hoda said: America’s problem is our religiosity, independence, and dignity. From the perspective of such a government, a great Iran that stands beside the Zionist regime must be broken up.

Ayatollah Seyed Ahmad Alam al-Hoda, the Friday Prayer Leader of Mashhad and the representative of the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Khorasan Razavi Province, stated in this week’s Friday sermons in Mashhad, which were delivered at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS): The peace treaty of Imam Hassan (AS) was not a policy chosen by him; rather, it was a peace that was imposed upon that Infallible Imam by the people. Meaning, the people of that time lacked the ability to analyze [the situation] regarding the Imam of the community and governance, and the result was an extremely heinous oppression that was inflicted upon the beloved ones of God throughout the Umayyad dynasty’s power over the Islamic nation.

Muawiyah was not a better manager or politician than Imam Hassan Mojtaba (AS); rather, Muawiyah deceived the people and drew them to his side, and the people mistook this deception for good governance.

Today, too, wrapped in the layers of the virtual space and the internet, there are whispers of these same notions: ‘Why should we have nuclear technology and missiles? We should go to the negotiating table and solve our problems with America,’ or ‘Why should we pay the cost for Palestine and Gaza? We should live peacefully in our own country.’ These statements and ideas are just like the time when the people brought Muawiyah to power.

America’s problem is our religiosity, independence, and dignity. From the perspective of such a government, a great Iran that stands beside the Zionist regime must be broken up. Given this, what problem exactly should we solve with America at the negotiating table, and at what price should this be done? Therefore, those who speak of negotiations with America either say these things out of ignorance, or they themselves are puppets of America.

The people of Muawiyah’s time lost Imam Hassan (AS) and Muawiyah dominated them. But today, fortunately, due to the growth of awareness, faith, belief, awakening, and vigilance among you people, God Almighty has bestowed upon us the shadow of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei as the Leader, who has been the guarantor of our power and dignity, and our dignity increases every day.
