The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran stated: There is a necessary will to ensure security on the part of our Iraqi friends, and this will is fully present on the Iranian side as well.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the second Provincial Diplomacy meeting in Mashhad, addressed the recent visit of the Iraqi National Security Advisor and the issue of border terrorists. He stated, “This visit was conducted at the invitation of the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, and a meeting with me also took place at the Council’s secretariat. Naturally, one of the main topics of discussion was the security of the two countries’ borders.”

He added, “During this visit, major regional issues were discussed, including regional security, the aggressions of the Zionist regime and its crimes in Gaza, and their impact on the regional security structure. Discussions and exchanges of views also took place regarding the security of the two countries’ borders, the existing security agreement, and how to optimally implement it.”

The Foreign Minister emphasized, “There is a necessary will to ensure security on the part of our Iraqi friends, and this will is fully present on the Iranian side as well.”

Araghchi noted, “Al-Araji clearly stated that Iraq will not allow its territory to be used to pose a threat to the Islamic Republic of Iran. This position is a very strong and positive statement and demonstrates the shared determination of the two countries to maintain the security and stability of the borders.”
