The First Deaf Olympic Medal Donated to the Astan Quds Razavi Museum

In a spiritual ceremony, a national sports champion in sitting volleyball for the deaf donated his valuable medals to the Astan Quds Razavi Museum.

During a heartfelt event held this morning, November 17, with the participation of officials from Astan Quds Razavi at the Astan Quds Razavi Conference Center, Mahmoud Ghanbili, a national sports champion, donated his valuable medals from the Deaf Winter Olympic Sitting Volleyball competitions in Melbourne to the Astan Quds Razavi Museum — two decades after earning them.

In his speech, Ghanbili explained his motivation for donating the medals, saying:
“Since childhood, I have had a deep admiration for Imam Reza (AS). With reliance upon this noble Imam, I competed in all my tournaments and, through continuous practice and perseverance through hardships, achieved these medals. Now, I return them to their rightful owner — the Noble Imam.”

He added:
“All these achievements are the result of constant effort. Never giving up in the face of life’s difficulties leads to success. I only wish that these symbols of honor be accepted from us, and I hope to be blessed with the honor of serving Imam Reza (AS).”
