Farewell ceremony for the unknown martyrs of the imposed war between Iran and the Iraqi Ba’athist regime held at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS)

The Director General of the Office for Preserving and Disseminating the Values of the Sacred Defense and Resistance of Khorasan Razavi Province stated: “The farewell ceremony for the pure remains of the 13 Unknown Martyrs from the imposed war between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Iraqi Ba’athist regime will be held in the Imam Khomeini Portico at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS).”

In a press conference this Wednesday, Colonel Abutaleb Javan, Director General of the Office for the Preservation and Dissemination of the Values of the Sacred Defense and Resistance in Khorasan Razavi Province, outlined the details of the procession, farewell, and burial ceremonies for the sacred remains of 13 Unknown Martyrs. The ceremonies, which coincide with the anniversary of the martyrdom of Hazrat Zahra (peace be upon her), will be held in the province. He stated, “This year, Khorasan Razavi has the honor of hosting the martyrs during the days commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Zahra (peace be upon her). In this regard, the sacred remains of 13 Unknown Martyrs from the period of the imposed war between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Ba’athist regime of Saddam Hussein arrived in Mashhad via Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport and were received by provincial officials, military and law enforcement commanders, and the families of martyrs.”

The approximate ages of the Unknown Martyrs to be buried in the province during the Fatimiyya days are estimated to be 18, 25, 26, 32, and 40 years old. They are associated with the following operations: Preliminary Valfajr, Valfajr 3, Ramadan, Valfajr 6, Kheibar, Ashura 2, and Tak Doshman in the year 1367 (equivalent to 1988-89). Their remains were discovered in the operational areas of Fakkah, Majnoon Island, Changouleh, Mehran, Chilat, and East of Basra.

The sacred remains of these martyrs will be present in seven county routes and in Mashhad, allowing the people of the province to benefit from the blessing of their presence.

The farewell ceremony for the sacred remains of the 13 Unknown Martyrs of the Sacred Defense will be held on the evening of Sunday, November 23, after Maghrib and Isha prayers, coinciding with the night of the martyrdom of Hazrat Zahra (peace be upon her). The ceremony will take place in the Imam Khomeini Portico of the illuminated Razavi Sanctuary, with the participation of pilgrims and local residents.

The sacred remains of the 13 Unknown Martyrs will be processioned from Martyrs’ Square to the holy shrine of Imam Reza (peace be upon him) on Monday, November 24, coinciding with the anniversary of the martyrdom of the daughter of the Noble Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him and his progeny).

The burial of five Unknown Martyrs has been confirmed at the following locations: Razavi Pilgrims’ Residence, Meqat al-Reza, the Javad al-A’emmeh Cultural-Educational Complex in Golbahar, and the cities of Chenaran and Garmab. One additional location is under consideration, and if preparations are completed within the next two days, the burial will take place there. The remains of the other martyrs, who are present in the province as guests, will be transferred to the “Meraj of Martyrs” in Tehran after the procession ceremony.

The sacred remains of the martyrs will be laid to rest at the predetermined locations between November 26 and 27.
